Eight is Enough Team Game - Sunday, April 2

LBC is hosting an Eight is Enough team game on Sunday, April 2 at 1:00 p.m. A sign-up sheet is available on the front counter. Please register by April 1.

Eight is Enough is a Swiss Teams format that evens the strength of the teams and gives everyone a greater chance to win. The game provides an opportunity to play with someone new and allows players who normally would not play in an open game the opportunity to be on a team with Flight A players!

ROYAL STaC WEEK March 27 to April 2

Games held at the LBC during the week of March 27 to April 2 will be Royal STaC games. Points will be awarded at Sectional rates and will be 25% Gold, 25% Red, 25% Silver, and 25% black.

MONDAY AFTERNOON OPEN REGISTRATION

With some regular players away, we are implementing a temporary registration process for the Monday afternoon Open Pairs game.  We want to avoid players arriving at the club and finding that there are not enough players to run the game.  Please use the link below to register before 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. 
If we do not have 12 players by then, we will cancel the game and send an e-mail to registrants and post a notice in this section of the website.

All LBC COVID protocols apply - proof of vaccination is required.  Mask wearing is voluntary.  Please be courteous to others who may request that you wear a mask.  Snacks and drinks are now available.

6:30 pm – 0-1500 MP

1 pm - 0-100 MP; if there are too few players for a separate game, players are invited to join the 0-1500 game

LBC COVID PROTOCOLS

    These are the protocols we follow for in-person play:  You must be free of COVID symptoms to enter the club and have pre-screened with these questions:  Pre-screen questions.

 

·       You will need to show proof of double vaccination when you enter the first time.

·       Masks wearing is voluntary

·       Hand sanitizer will be at the door and at tables

·       Tables will be spaced further apart

·       HEPA air filters have been placed throughout the club

·       Any other requirements of the Province or local health unit

Spring Course - Bridge Basics 1

Bridge Basics I is a general introduction to the game of bridge that includes basic terminology, bidding, and card play. This course is designed for individuals with no bridge experience or for those who are returning to bridge after an extended absence from the game. Course begins March 28.  Please go to our Current Bridge Courses page for more info.

Spring Course - Advancing Your Game - Part 2

The Advancing Your Game bridge course is designed for players who have completed several bridge courses and who play duplicate bridge on a regular basis. Advancing Your Game - Part 1 was taught last fall.  Advancing Your Game - Part 2 will be offered in May and starts on May 11. Practice and Play

Practice and Play has returned on Saturday mornings. Practice and Play is an opportunity to play bridge for those new to the game or for those who would like to brush up on their bridge skills. This is a casual bridge session with expert guidance provided by Peter Tuttle and Adele Woolfe. Ask questions about your bidding, your play, and of course "What could I have done better?"

This session runs from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. No pre-registration is required. Feel free to come on your own, with a partner, or even with a table of four. 

Spring Course - Bridge Basics II

Bridge Basics II carries on with practice in playing hands and provides an introduction to the following topics in bidding: Take-out doubles, overcalls, pre-emptive bids, weak 2 openings, and responses to each of these bidding strategies.  This is the next class to be taken following Bridge Basics I.

Membership Renewals

Membership year is July 1 to June 30.  If you haven't renewed your 2022-2023 membership, please go to the Membership page.  The cost is $15 for the remainder of the year.
